Arizona Diamondbacks defeat Florida Marlins 9-5 - MLB Update
Arizona Diamondbacks put in a good performance as they defeated the Florida Marlins 9-5 at Sun Life Stadium, Miami on June 11.
The Marlins have had their worst month since the season started given they have lost nine of the ten games they played since the beginning of June. Things are bad for the team after their ace Josh Johnson’s injury, that even in a game that they managed to
belt out three home- runs, they lost. Homers were in abundance at the stadium as a total of five were unleashed throughout the game.
Another Johnson dominated the game, though not the Johnson from the Marlins side who is currently in the Disabled List. Kelly Johnson let a lot of hits go to waste throughout the match but he did not fail to deliver when it was needed the most. It was his
three run gaining double in the fourth innings that eventually helped the Diamondbacks triumph over the Marlins.
Johnson commented on his hits, saying, "You want to make them count when you get 'em, so it was good to get a big return on that hit, I'm glad I could come through there."
Javier Vazquez who was pitching from Florida’s side can be blamed for turning a game that looked like it started off in Florida’s favour to another one of their defeats. He let six runs pass him by after the fourth inning kicked off and further put a dent
in his already rapidly declining statistics. Vazquez is already the pitcher with the worst ERA in all of Major League which is at 7.09. In three and two third innings, batters belted out seven runs on an equal number of hits presented.
Even with three home-runs from the Marlins side they could not pull through. Chris Coghlan belted one out in the first inning that flew for 371 feet. After that, Gaby Sanchez hit a mammoth homer in the fifth which covered a distance of 426 feet followed
by another powerful one in the same inning by Mike Stanton which also covered the same distance.
The first run to be put on the scoreboard from the Diamondbacks side came courtesy of Ryan Robert when he belted out a 361 feet home-run. Arizona was silenced for a couple of innings when the Marlins belted out hits of their own but as soon as they got the
chance they answered with Stephen Drew’s 382 feet homer.
The fourth and fifth inning was marked a hitting spree for the Diamondbacks as Miguel Montero, Xavier Nady, Ian Kennedy, Ryan Roberts along with Chris Young scored to get a total of 9 runs against the Marlins 5, effectively clinching the victory.
