Arizona Diamondbacks defeated by Colorado Rockies 4-5 – MLB Recap
Arizona Diamondbacks defeated by the Colorado Rockies 4-5 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, May 21 at Coors Field in Denver.
Rockies started an early run in the second inning with back to back two runs. Their batters played brilliantly against the Diamondbacks pitchers eventually won the game with quite ease.
“When you know somebody, that's when you get too comfortable and they can get you, I just didn't think,” Wilin Rosario explained.
Tough the Diamondbacks’ tired batting line-up showed little progress in the bottom seventh when they scored four runs but soon the Rockies pitchers overpowered their short stint and hammered them with heavy firing of fast sliders.
“That's kind of the Catch-22, If you throw him first-pitch fastball, he can hammer it. He's a good fastball hitter, so you take your chances with an offspeed pitch, trying to get ahead of him. Probably, again, caught too much plate with it,” said Matt Reynolds,
who was with the Rockies for three seasons before being traded to Arizona last November.
Starter Jhoulys Chacin pitched 6.1 innings and allowed four runs. He struck out two while his ERA remained consistent at 4.10.
“Jhoulys was cruising had a tremendous outing going, He lost a little command there in the seventh it got away from him,” Weiss said.
Later all the Rockies pitchers remained confident on the mound and did not receive any further run. Rockies manager called Josh Outman from the bullpen to replace Jhoulys Chacin.
He pitched 0.2 innings and received only one hit. He struck out two while his ERA remained consistent at 5.09.
“He did OK, He kept us in the game. We came back and tied it,” Gibson said.
Along with pitchers, the Rockies batters also performed wonderfully and helped their team win a second game of the series.
Troy Tulowitzki scored two runs on his four at bats. He ran for an RBI as he maintained his slugging percentage of .606. Catcher Wilin Rosario also contributed with his one run on two hits. He ran for an RBI on four at bats and maintained his slugging percentage
of .511.
