Arizona Diamondbacks dominate Colorado Rockies 10-7 – MLB Recap
Arizona Diamondbacks defeated Colorado Rockies in the third game of their four-match regular series encounter on Sunday, September 23 at Coors Field in Denver.
Aaron Hill’s three-run homer landed the Diamondbacks a great victory as they also won the series 3-0 with one game to spare.
"Aaron's just been so steady, It's good to have him in the two-hole. I did have a lineup today where I was going to put him down fifth, but he's been so clutch for us that you want him to get that extra at-bat," Arizona manager Kirk Gibson said later in the game about Hill’s contribution in the Diamondbacks’ win.
Overall Hill contributed two runs and three hits along with three RBIs on his five at-bats. He played beautifully and maintained his slugging percentage at .518.
"He threw some good pitches I was just able to fortunately foul them off until I got a pitch to hit, It ended up working out," Hill said.
First baseman Paul Goldschmidt added one run and smashed two hits on his four at-bats. He stood tall against the Rockies’ pitchers and hammered them with great determination.
Left fielder Jason Kubel scored two runs and smashed one hit on his four at-bats. He played well and maintained his slugging percentage at .507.
Along with batters, Diamondbacks’ pitchers also showed great energy and did not allow too many runs or openings to the Rockies' upfront batters.
Especially starter Ian Kennedy played with enormous energy. He tossed six solid innings and received four runs and nine hits on his 4.14 ERA.
He struck-out six potential Rockies’ batters and did not allow them any opportunity to play him freely instead he kept them under pressure and earned a great victory for the Diamondbacks.
"Giving up four runs in this ballpark is like giving up three or two anywhere else, You do your job by keeping your team in the game," Kennedy said
Takashi Saito pitched 0.2 innings and gave three runs and four hits. He struck-out one while his ERA remained consistent at 6.97.
