Arizona Diamondbacks edge out Los Angeles Dodgers 2-0 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks edged past the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-0 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, August 30 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
"It's a loss that we really can't afford, There's guys in that clubhouse I trust are going to get the job done. I continue to believe in these guys." said Dodgers' manager Don Mattingly.
Diamondbacks’ entire roster played brilliantly and won the game in style. They did not give any chance to the Dodgers to dominate them during the game and eventually eased past with a two-run advantage.
Aaron Hill with his two hits played well early in the game as he also maintained his slugging percentage at .505.
Though the Diamondbacks early batting offence did not add any run but with their aggressive play, the Dodgers’ pitchers proved quite vulnerable to them.
However, Miguel Montero later scored one run and smashed one hit on his four at-bats which gave the Diamondbacks early momentum in the game.
Centre fielder Chris Young also played well for his team as he scored one run on his two hits. He remained calm and added two RBIs maintaining his slugging percentage at .437.
Along with batters, the Diamondbacks' pitchers also did well on the mound and proved their valour. They showed their true colour when they rattled the entire Dodgers’ batting line-up with style.
Ian Kennedy pitched 6.1 innings and received only two hits. He did not allow any run and struck-out seven on his 4.27 ERA.
"The difference is, when you execute, it makes it look like your game plan is a lot better, On good games, Miggy (catcher Miguel Montero) and I are on the right game plan," Kennedy said.
"He was very good attacking the zone. He mixed it up a little better, He managed his pitch count really well and got us deeper in the game," Gibson said of Kennedy.
Relief pitcher David Hernandez also played well and proved one of the winning factors for the Diamondbacks.
