Arizona Diamondbacks edge past Colorado Rockies 9-7 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks edge past the Colorado Rockies 9-7 in their second game of two-match regular series encounter on Thursday, May 17 at Coors Field Denver, Colorado in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
With this win, the Diamondbacks also avoided the series defeat from the Rockies as they had already defeated them in the first game of their matchup on Wednesday, May 16.
Right fielder Justin Upton played superbly for the Diamondbacks and gave them an astonishing win over the well settled Rockies.
His two-run homer in the ninth provided the Diamondbacks a much deserved win.
"That was nice, just being able to put all my struggles aside and come up big for the team. That's always a goal, but it's not always that easy. It definitely feels good." said Upton with confidence.
Upton added telling some other aspects of his game, “It shows up a lot that way, A guy makes a good play and comes in and starts off an inning with a hit. It happens that way, but I don't know if you necessarily mentally bring it with you (to the plate). It definitely makes you feel good, that you can stop some runs from scoring. It kind of puts you in a good mood."
Shortstop Willie Bloomquist and third base Ryan Roberts also added one run a piece in the Diamondbacks’ win.
At start, the Rockies’ played more aggressive game and went into early three runs’ lead in the second inning.
Diamondbacks were yet to add a score when the Rockies impressed them again with another run as they strengthened the lead to four in the fifth inning.
However, from there onwards, the Diamondbacks started their thrust and rallied past the Rockies in last five innings adding nine runs in total and eventually won the game in style.
In the meanwhile, this particular win now will also give the Diamondbacks a great boost ahead of their series against the Kansas City Royals.
Currently they are sitting quite comfortable at third position in the National League West division with 17-22 win loss record and with the winning percentage of .436.
