Arizona Diamondbacks face serious trouble with growing injury list – MLB News
The Arizona Diamondbacks are currently facing some serious trouble as their one of the best three players got injured against the Pittsburgh Pirates leaving manger Kirk Gibson in bitter despair.
Right fielder Justin Upton was the first victim of that particular unfortunate night when the Pirates thrashed the Diamondbacks’ offence and won the game 5-4.
Upton’s thumb was bothering him during the game when the manager took notice and sent him to some specialist where he is now under complete examination.
The Diamondbacks centre fielder Chris Young also was injured when he bumped into the boundary fence and suffered a serious shoulder injury which will keep him out from the field for quite some time as well.
The last victim of the night was Geoff Blum whose side muscle was pulled as he also left the field soon. All these three players are yet to go on disabled list.
“The frustration level is real high," Young said. "It's bad timing. I guess anytime you get hurt, it's bad timing. But especially with some guys down, you want to be out there to help the team and do what you can. I'm a pretty positive thinker. I'll pray on it tonight, and hopefully I'll wake up and it'll feel a lot better than it does right now."
“It's a little tighter now," he added. "I can't lift it right now. We'll see. I'm sure it's in a little bit of shock. All we can do tonight is ice it.”
Experts believe that this is not a good sign for the Diamondbacks, who are still scheduled to play against bigger rivals including Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, Miami Marlins, Washington Nationals, New York Mets, St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies, Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, Oakland Athletics, Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Angels and Chicago Cubs.
On the other hand, to perform good and consistent game, the Diamondbacks need to focus that how to get all these injured players back. Some MLB critics also rated this year’s Diamondbacks team a well balanced roster, but the gap these late injuries have created in the franchise can be dangerous in the long run.
