Arizona Diamondbacks’ general manager Kevin Towers hopes a multi-team trade – MLB Update
The Arizona Diamondbacks are getting desperate to find ways for bringing back one of the most talented and experienced players Justin Upton.
Upton with his free agency is garnering interest from many Major League Baseball teams but the Diamondbacks are still optimistic to sign him again for the next potential seasons.
Not only Upton, the Diamondback also want some other experienced players to start another good beginning in the next Major League Baseball season. Last season, the Diamondbacks showed slight progress on pitching and offensive batting.
Diamondbacks, who used to play more defensive, totally changed their old approach and started playing with more offensive approach. That not only helped the Diamondbacks to stay on top of their game but it also gave them enough confidence to revive their overall playing strategy for next potential seasons.
Kevin Towers, the Diamondbacks' GM, at start of the 2012 Major League Baseball gave them a very roster consisting of good pitchers and hitters as well as good fielders. They all performed well throughout the last season and provided their top management with courage to spend some more money for bringing good free agents.
Meanwhile, now the Diamondbacks certainly want to improve their pitching and batting depth. They are already pursuing their veteran right fielder Justin Upton, who is currently a free agent.
Towers recently discussed Upton and on new signings as he said, “In all my years, I would say — and not just the one that’s reported — I’ve had more multi-team trade discussions than anytime ever, I’ve had very few just direct one-on-one. It seems like almost every discussion that we’ve had has involved at least another (a third) team.”
Towers added after attending 2012 Major League Baseball’s annual Winter Meetings, "But at least in these meetings we had a chance to talk to, or at least engage, the target clubs that we thought we had the best matches with – either directly or indirectly, more indirectly, And I think that things could change, too.. We’re in no rush to do anything.”
Upton on the other hand, finished the last season achieving .280 hitting average along with 17 homers, 67 RBIs and .355 OBP.
