Arizona Diamondbacks hammer Texas Rangers 11-3 MLB Update
Arizona Diamondbacks stunned the American League West leaders Texas Rangers with an 11-3 win at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on Thursday, June 14 in the finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
The Rangers had dominated their opponents in the first two games of the series. Showing great composure and temperament, Ron Washington and company secured a huge 9-1 win in the opening game.
Although the Diamondbacks put up a solid fight in the second game, the Rangers held their nerves to clinch a narrow 1-0 win, taking a decisive 2-0 lead. Credit must be given to the Diamondbacks for their determination and fighting spirits as they humiliated
the Rangers at the Rangers Ballpark.
The offence produced a masterful performance for Arizona to stack up a huge total on the board. Rangers’ batters were unable to convert some easy scoring opportunities and they paid the ultimate price.
"Get momentum, especially getting a lot of guys in a row out, pitching out of the windup a lot, just get in a rhythm," Arizona’s Daniel Hudson said. "Mechanics are the same every single time, that's what we strive for."
"He kept it together there," Diamondbacks’ manager Kirk Gibson said. "They got the run in the first inning, and stayed in the game plan, kept them off balance."
"He kept us off-balance. He mixed it up," Rangers’ first baseman Mitch Moreland said. "We got out of our game plan. You've got to stay locked in and stay with your approach."
Texas, once again, scored first thanks to Adrian Beltre who singled to right in the first inning but the Diamondbacks responded immediately with Jason Kubel hitting a mighty two run home run to right centre field. Lyle Overbay had an excellent night with
the bat wit three hits that included a two run double of an unforced error.
With Arizona leading 6-1 in the sixth inning, Gerardo Parra homered to right to extend the lead to 9-1. David Murphy drove in a two run home run for Texas in the seventh but the effort was never going to be enough.
