The Arizona Diamondbacks hammered by the Los Angeles Angels 0-2 in the third and final game their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, June 17 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Diamondbacks came into this game with huge confidence as they knew that this particular game is a decisive for their series’ winning chances, the Angels taking the home advantage, took the game away is style.
The Angels not only won the game but with the second consecutive win, they also won the series as well.
Slugger Albert Pujols outperformed everybody and proved one of the winning factors for the Angels.
On his four at bats, he hit a homer and a RBI to help the Angels win in superb manner.
"Most of the guys getting on the base with me were saying, 'Man, where did this kid come from? He's so young, and he's already got the stuff, which is good, because you can't teach that." said Pujols,
Garrett Richards also played well for the Angels as his eight scoreless innings gave chance to the Diamondbacks to dominate the game.
"I'm up here to take advantage of my opportunities, I feel that I'm ready to stick here and help this team win, and it's just a matter of getting opportunities. They're going to make a good decision, and that's all I can ask for." Richards said.
Later manager Mike Scioscia also said for his team’s win, "We wouldn't have given [Richards] the ball if we didn't think he was ready for the major leagues,”
The Diamondbacks’ starter Ian Kennedy despite playing well could save the game for his team. He finished receiving six hits and two runs.
In the meanwhile, this latest win defeat the Angels has given the Diamondbacks a real surprise as their winning percentage dropped to .485 while experts believe that if the really wanted to play in the upcoming post season; they have to sustain their winning
percentage at .500.
The Angels on the other hand, are sitting comfortable at second position in the American League West Division with .537 winning percentage.
