Arizona Diamondbacks humiliate Colorado Rockies 6-3 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks humiliated the Colorado Rockies 6-3 in the first game of their three match-regular series encounter on Monday, July 23 at Chase Field in Phoenix.
Diamondbacks certainly played aggressive and took away the game with extreme precision.
From start of the game, they never gave any chance to the Rockies dire defence and played intelligently during the entire game which eventually proved fruitful for the Diamondbacks.
Diamondbacks' roster played tremendously and won in the end. Not only their batters but their pitchers also played according to the situation of the game and proved unplayable for the Rockies’ humiliating defeat.
Especially starter Ian Kennedy pitched well and tossed eight solid innings and helped the Diamondbacks power past the Rockies with ease.
He allowed only two runs and hits along with two earned runs while his ERA remained consistent at 4.20.
Kennedy remained calm on the mound for his spell and struck-out seven hitters.
"I knew I hit it a long way but Fowler's pretty fast, I just kept saying, 'Get down. Get down.' It felt good to finally do something in that situation. I went out there just wanted to do it like we did it last year and just pound the zone, Overall I feel like I'm locating my changeup better, that it's down instead of up," Kennedy said.
Along with pitcher Kennedy, the Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt also played well and earned a great victory for his team.
He scored two runs on a single hit while his slugging percentage remained consistent at .542 on his three at-bats.
Goldschmidt said, "I didn't know how close he was to me, From where I was I thought he was going to run it down. I was just thankful someone drove me in after I made that mistake."
On the other hand, the Rockies’ certainly were outplayed and never seemed comfortable in the field.
Especially their starter Jonathan Sanchez allowed five runs, six hits and five earned runs on his 11.25 ERA which proved disastrous for the Rockies as they lost with a three-run deficit.
