Arizona Diamondbacks humiliate Florida Marlins 15-4 - MLB Update

The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Florida Marlins as they won the first of the three games series 15-4 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona on May 30.
After having a bad start in Los Angeles where they lost three out of their four games, it looks like things are about to get worse for Florida. If the defeat against the Diamondbacks is any indication of things to come, the Marlins would have to suffer a
lot more humiliation before this series ends. The night’s loss marked the worse defeat the Marlins had to suffer since the season began and everyone thought that things couldn’t get any worse than their 8-0 loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
On the other hand, everything seems to be working for the Diamondbacks who had a hit extravaganza as they belted out nineteen at the Marlins’ expense. They are the leaders of the National League West which is quite a drastic change from their last two seasons
where they were constant fixtures in the division basement.
Kelly Johnson, one of the biggest contributors to the 15 runs commented on his team’s victory by saying, "A big win, lots of runs, lots of hits, you can't ask for anything better than that." Johnson supported his team with a double and triple and four extra
base hits, which is a franchise record.
Although Johnson’s start this season was anything but impressive, he has managed to get the game back in his hands and has been batting at .429 in his last eight games. Johnson was unstoppable as he unleashed solo home-runs in the third and sixth inning
and if that wasn’t enough, he tripled in the seventh inning after doubling in the fourth.
Joe Saunders could not get comfortable on the mound, he sacrificed four runs and seven hits within the duration of six innings while striking-out seven and letting two walk. After him Chris Volstad let a shameful five runs pass him in the three and one third
innings that he pitched. He barely managed to strike-out two and let one walk.
Florida manager, Edwin Rodriguez was quick to blame his pitchers for the loss as he said, "It's all about the pitching, we have been saying that all along. The starting pitcher sets the tone for the game.’’
The game witnessed five home-runs courtesy of the Diamondbacks. Johnson had two of those homers to his name and the rest came from Gerardo Parra, Miguel Montero and Justin Upton.
The Marlins put two runs on the scoreboard in the third inning after Emilio Bonifacio and Omar Infante scored. The last two runs they managed to squeeze in came in the fifth inning when Gaby Sanchez belted out a 388 feet homer and Logan Morrison scored.
