Arizona Diamondbacks humiliate Houston Astros 12-3 MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks humiliated the Houston Astros 12-3 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Saturday, July 21 at Chase Field in Phoenix.
Diamondbacks’ played well and earned a great victory in the end. With this particular win, Arizona has also won the series 2-0 with one game to spare.
The entire Diamondbacks’ roster played superbly and never gave any chance to their opponents to take control. Instead they kept them under pressure and eventually won in the end.
Later in the game, Arizona manager Kirk Gibson commented on his team’s combined effort and said, "You don't see many games like that, He just loves the fastball and was seeing it good. The second one was pretty impressive. It looked like it was in on him as well. He gets the bat there really quick, to all fields. He's got a very short stroke and he gets the barrel to the ball."
On the other hand, the Astros suffered their fifth straight defeat when the Diamondbacks ousted them on Saturday. Houston certainly played poor and never showed any fighting spirit during the entire game.
Not only their pitchers’ played poorly but their hitters were also seen out of colour as they did not score much against the Diamondbacks’ overwhelming nine runs' lead.
Starter Dallas Keuchel was hammered with seven runs, six earned runs and seven hits. He struck-out only one Diamondbacks’ batter as his ERA rose to 4.03.
Keuchel commented on his particular outing and said, "My command today down and away with the sinker was poor, to say the least, I made some mistakes over the plate with runners on and that hurt me."
Astros’ relief pitcher Fernando Rodriguez was smashed with two runs, two earned runs on two hits. He was too way-ward on the mound and could not save the game for his team.
Closer Rhiner Cruz could have played better but his fast sliders were also ineffective as he received two runs on three hits. He also received two earned runs which proved terrible for his team as the Astros lost in the end with bitter humiliation.
