Arizona Diamondbacks humiliated by Los Angeles Dodgers 1-4 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks were crushed by the Los Angeles Dodgers 1-4 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, July 5 at Chase Field.
Diamondbacks from the start of the game played under pressure and eventually lost with bitter humiliation.
Wade Miley did not look comfortable on the mound as he gave four runs on eight hits along with four earned runs. He was also hammered for two homers as his ERA rose to 3.04.
Later in the game, Miley commented in the media about his performance during the game and said, "I was leaving balls up, not executing pitches, They made me pay. It could've been worse, but it was bad. I felt fine, But whether you're throwing 88 or 94, if
the ball is belt high in the middle of the plate, it's going to get hit. We're scuffling, every team does, We'll get through this, there are a lot of games left to play. We're fine, we're in it. We just have to win some ballgames and get some confidence into
the break."
Later D-backs’ manager Kirk Gibson discussed his team’s performance and said, “We're ready for this to stop, We always push on, but it stings now."
On the other hand, the Dodgers played combined and stood tall against the Diamondbacks’ offence.
Nate Eovaldi pitched six innings for the Dodgers and received only one run. He struck-out three batters as his ERA remained consistent at 4.21.
Not only the pitchers, but the Dodgers’ batting line-up also performed tremendously.
All of the senior Dodgers players performed and earned a great victory for their team.
Before coming into this series, the Dodgers defeated the Cincinnati Reds 2-1. While this is also a healthy sign for the Los Angeles side as they are strengthening their position on top of the National League West.
Though the San Francisco Giants are also chasing them sitting at second position in the same Division but the Dodgers with a .547 winning percentage, still have a fair chance to finish as league leaders before the All-Star break. The Dodgers will be looking
to build some more confidence to become competitive during this crucial time of the regular season.
