Kennedy said, "Long delay, but there's no excuses. I didn't pitch very good, It makes it even longer for me. Long break in between starts. You want to start off good after the All-Star break. That's not how you should pitch in order to win a game."
Closer Brad Ziegler also played an average game for the Diamondbacks and just could not keep his natural flair.
He was smashed for two runs on three hits while he also gave two earned runs. He remained unable to strike-out any batter of Chicago.

Paul Maholm pitched seven innings for the Cubs and received only one run and six hits.
Maholm said, "You just deal with rain delays, I get ready as though the game is starting on time. I came out today to start long tossing, they said they were going to delay it 20 minutes and it turned into 4 hours. It's a little different because you never know when it's going to stop."
Maholm also received one earned run as his ERA remained quite consistent at 4.33.
