Arizona Diamondbacks lose to New York Mets 1-3 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks lost to New York Mets 1-3 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, July 26 at Chase Field in Phoenix.
From start of the game, the Diamondbacks’ played under pressure and never showed any fighting spirit during the entire game.
Diamondbacks, who were coming off a defeat from the Colorado Rockies in their previous game, again played with low energy and lost in the end.
Especially the Diamondbacks’ batting line-up disappointed in a huge way. They were only able to score one run and lost bitterly in the end.
It was the second straight defeat in which the Diamondbacks' hitters failed to impress and could not do much against the two different teams.
On the other hand, the Mets looked sharp and athletic in the field. They showed their true fighting spirit and kept the Diamondbacks’ under pressure during the entire game to eventually win in style.
Mets’ starting rotation and experienced hitters contributed equally in their win. They played as one unit and supported each other in all areas of play.
Starter Matt Harvey played wonderfully and earned a decent victory for the Mets. He pitched 5.1 innings and did not allow any run. He also retired eleven Diamondbacks’ hitters.
"When I was warming up I looked around and kind of took everything in, At that moment I really did believe that I was meant to pitch in the big leagues. It was everything I could have imagined. I just wanted to do everything I could to keep the team in a winning distance," Harvey said on his particular outing.
Later team manager Terry Collins also appreciated Harvey’s play and said, "He lived up to exactly what everybody has talked about him, Now I want him to go out the next time and be a little more comfortable yet pitch as effectively as he did today. He is a different cat."
Wade Miley on the other hand was smashed with three runs and nine hits in his 5.1 innings spell which proved one of the losing factors for the Mets. He also gave three earned runs and was only able to strike-out three Mets' batters.
