Arizona Diamondbacks lose to Pittsburgh Pirates 6-7 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks were defeated by the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-7 in the third game of their four-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, August 8 at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.
Pirates’ entire stating line-up played well and earned a great victory against the Diamondbacks.
Kevin Correia started the game for the Pirates and allowed four runs in his six innings spell. He received six hits and allowed three earned runs. He remained calm on the mound and struck-out five Diamondbacks’ batters on his 4.49 ERA.
“It was definitely nice to be back on top that quick, I didn't feel that bad in the first, although there was a little bit of rust. But after that I was decent; in the second I was a little more aggressive," Correia said on his performance which landed his team a fine victory over the Diamondbacks.
Chris Resop pitched 0.2 innings for the Pirates and received only one run and struck out one on his consistent 3.61 ERA.
Tony Watson was the most successful pitcher from the Pirates’ roster as he did not receive any run or hit but still able to strike-out one opposing hitter on his 4.15 ERA.
Closer Chad Qualls however, allowed one run and two hits along with one earned run on his persistent 4.46 ERA.

"You've got to make better pitches, He's trying. They got guys on base, and they got their runners in. We had lots of opportunities the whole game. It was kind of back and forth, and we had our opportunities, and ultimately we didn't cash in right there at the end. It was a pretty intense game," Diamondbacks’ manager Kirk Gibson said on his team’s performance in detail.
Starter Ian Kennedy pitched four innings and allowed six runs and eight hits. He also received five earned runs on his 4.34 ERA and literally lost the game for the Diamondbacks.
