Arizona Diamondbacks lose to Seattle Mariners 9-12 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated by the Seattle Mariners 9-12 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, June 19 at Chase Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The series is now levelled 1-1 with a game to spare which will be played on Wednesday, June 20.
First game of the series was won by the Diamondbacks 7-1 however, in this particular game, they did not show their natural game and lost bitterly in the end.
Both teams’ starters were hammered for plenty of runs but the Seattle side did manage to support their starting pitcher Erasmo Ramirez who allowed five crucial runs, seven hits and four earned runs.
He was also hammered for two home-runs and struck-out five Diamondbacks’ batters.
Maintaining his 5.40 ERA, Ramirez somehow managed to become one of the winning factors in the Mariners win.
Daniel Hudson on the other hand, could not save the game for the Diamondbacks who looked comfortable scoring runs from the plate. He pitched four innings and allowed seven runs and 10 hits along with seven earned runs. His ERA also rose to 6.60 when he was given rest.
Seattle with this win also showed their batting prowess. Their right fielder Ichiro Suzuki literally won the game. He played well and made two runs, four hits and two RBIs.
“If you look at me now and if you look at me when I first got here in 2001, if I said my first day that my goal is to hit 2,500, on that day people would say that I was crazy," Suzuki said through an interpreter. "Now looking at, things do come true."
"Yesterday was tough for me," Ichiro said. "It was very regrettable because you want to go out there and perform but I understand the skipper's situation. It depends from here on how I will be given the day off."
Now the Mariners are feeling comfortable after defeating the Diamondbacks with comprehensiveness but still they need to improve a lot. Their current position in the American League West is not that secure to land them into the post season as they must keep their winning run in momentum.
