Arizona Diamondbacks lose to St. Louis Cardinals 6-9 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks received a bitter hammering of 6-9 from the 2012 Major League Baseball Champions St. Louis Cardinals in their three-game regular series encounter on Monday, May 7 at Chase Field, Phoenix, Arizona.
Starter Lance Lynn proved his game and pitched well for his team in five scoreless innings providing a spirited victory to the Cardinals.
Lance was brilliant on the mound as he took no time to adjust and started tossing the Diamondbacks with his fast and curving throws which proved in the end just good enough for the Cardinals who not only won the game, but they also took a commanding position
in the series with 1-0.
"We're winning games while I'm on the mound," Lynn said. “That's all that matters. Tonight was a struggle. You know you're not going to have your best stuff every time out. Tonight I was able to battle through it. I just didn't have it, plain and simple."
The Cardinals’ entire roster played a key role in their team’s win. Starting off with Rafael Furcal, whose homer certainly set the tone for the Cardinals in the very first inning while later Carlos Beltran, Matt Holliday, Joe Saunders, Allen Craig and David
Freese also smashed a homer each and led last year’s Champions to a tremendous victory.
“It was nice for them to come out swinging the bats right from the top, a pretty good display of some power," Cardinals manager Mike Matheney said. "Then obviously the ones we got later were a lot more valuable than what we thought they would be."
Game started-off with the Cardinals’ early three-run lead which later further increased to seven in the fourth innings. Though Arizona fought back in the sixth inning when they made six runs, but still these runs were enough and eventually gave up the struggle.
In the meanwhile, with this win the Cardinals are now in strong position in their own National League Central with 18-11 win loss record along with a tremendous winning percentage of.621.
Both these teams will be facing each-other once again on Tuesday, May 8.
