Arizona Diamondbacks’ management manoeuvre their payroll for next season – MLB News
Sources are speculating in the media that Arizona Diamondbacks are planning to look once again on their payroll for next Major League Baseball season.
These sources have not disclosed the exact amount of change that is about to happen in the next few weeks but this is pretty sure that the Diamondbacks spent too much last season just to retain several of their main players. That also helped them evaluating each player which was on different salary deal.
The approximate number is $65 million that was spent last season while this year the Diamondbacks payroll might go to probably $79 million. This increase of amount also is the result of their huge sponsorship contracts and ticket revenues.
Diamondbacks’ CEO Derrick Hall recently stated that Kendrick is the main person, who did not complete a full season with great commitment but proved a great help to their franchise for making a new payroll for the entire roster. Hall added, “That's a credit to (Managing General Partner) Ken (Kendrick) and ownership. We now have some pressure to increase revenues, but we think we can.”
Later, Diamondbacks' right-hander Daniel Hudson has also stated in the media for his management and their payroll policy. Hudson was happy as he knew the increased amount of payroll will also help them earn decent in the future.
Hudson said, “It definitely feels like they're all on board to kind of go for it right now. I think they've done a great job of helping us out for the short term while also not sacrificing the long term. It's a good feeling as a player knowing that management, after the season we had last year, wasn't just content with winning the NL West. They feel they want more, and it makes us thirsty for more.”
Earlier, no club officials have stated in the media about any payroll increase in the next season. But after this news hit the media, some executives stated as this happened naturally. The franchise needed that space to be filled for competing with other MLB teams. Even if the latest Diamondbacks payroll is higher, but it will still remain in the bottom half as compare to other National League teams.
