Arizona Diamondbacks’ manager Kirk Gibson thinks Chris Young could be a monster offensively
The Arizona Diamondbacks are sitting in quite comfortable place as their majority of players do look in great form ahead of 2012 Major League Baseball season. Chris Young is one of the well known defensive players in the Diamondbacks’ roster, but lately
his offensive game has impressed many including the Diamondbacks’ current manager Kirk Gibson, who also thinks that Young will be a great player offensively in the upcoming season.
He spoke to the media saying, “He could be a monster offensively, I see him staying on more pitches on the outside part of the plate. He had a much shorter swing path before, with the bat in and out of the zone.
Later young also made comments in the media and told reporters about his recent form. He said with confidence, "When I watch all the good hitters, they get the hard hits and they get the other ones where their path was right and their bat was level through
the zone and it allowed them to have more room for failure. That's been what I've been trying to get to."
Young is an experienced campaigner and knows when to play offensive and when to show his opposition more of a defensive game play. His five plus years in the Majors have taught him various tricks of trade. He is better known a defensive player, but lately
the way he has changed his mode of play in Cactus League, surely places him among some of the best role players in the league.
Playing a key role in his rookie year with the Diamondbacks, he hit almost 32 home runs. Though he later was little slowed down with his batting average and sent into Minor League, but within two years picked the same pace and brought back into the Majors.
Lately, he just completed a successful Spring Training and now feeling enormously high spirited for the next big event. However, some believe that in order to show consistent output, the Diamondbacks have to give little freedom to Young to open his arms
to show what kind of abilities he still has to unveil.
