Arizona Diamondbacks put centre fielder Chris Young on DL – MLB News
The Arizona Diamondbacks’ have placed their outfielder Chris Young on 15-day disabled list after he was injured during a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
During the game, Young was bumped into the boundary fence injuring his right shoulder and left the field early.
"The frustration level is real high," Young said. "It's bad timing. I guess anytime you get hurt, it's bad timing. But especially with some guys down, you want to be out there to help the team and do what you can. I'm a pretty positive thinker. I'll pray on it tonight, and hopefully I'll wake up and it'll feel a lot better than it does right now."
"It's a little tighter now," he added. "I can't lift it right now. We'll see. I'm sure it's in a little bit of shock. All we can do tonight is ice it."
As soon as he was injured, the team doctors stated as this injury will take little time before his potential comeback some two to three weeks. He was immediately taken for MRI examination which revealed his contusion in his right-shoulder.
The Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson however, remained silent on the situation on Tuesday when Young got injured, but later did explain the situation regarding his player’s condition. He told the media that Young’s right shoulder is certainly sore at the moment as the team doctors are also trying hard to give him the attention he deserves.
Young has come into new Major League Baseball season with full thrust. He performed tremendously during the 2012 Spring Training and made clear to his teammates that he will be playing a key role for his team this season.
While after coming into this season, he was also playing well for Diamondbacks. His performance has been quite impressive since coming into the season with batting average of .410, five home runs, 13 RBIs and .500 OBP.
Overall his career batting average is also quite consistent with .242 along with 123 homers, 380 RBIs and .322 OBP.  Experts believe Young’s injury is a big blow for the entire Diamondbacks’ team and if he remained on disabled list, the near future will bring some surprise for them.
