Arizona Diamondbacks receive 6-1 pounding from St. Louis Cardinals – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks received 6-1 hammering from 2011 World Series Champions St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday, May 8, at Chase Field, Phoenix in their second game of three-match regular series in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
With this win, the Cardinals also won the three-game series 2-0.
The Cardinals right fielder Carlos Beltran played enormously well and helped his team win with style.
Beltran played simply a perfect game for the Cardinals and started the uphill drive until finished it off giving 6-1 hammering to the struggling Diamondbacks.
Beltran never gave any chance to Diamondbacks’ pitchers to settle-in hitting them two early homers and six RBIs.
"It's confidence, it's results, it's a little bit of everything," Beltran said. "It's being able to come to the ballpark and have good BP (batting practice) sessions, staying inside the ball, things like that. You can carry those to the games. I'm just going through good times. In this game, you go through ups and downs."
Later St. Louis manager Mike Matheny said of Beltran who was very happy for his tremendous play, "His swing and his approach is so simple, He's got a good idea of what he's looking for and doesn't try to do too much when he gets it. That's just smart hitting from a guy that's been around for a while."
The Cardinals with the help of Beltran took the early grip on the game and led with two runs in the first inning. Later in the second, making four more runs, the Cardinals certainly held the Diamondbacks with great power and eventually won 6-1 in the ninth inning giving away only one run.
This was the third straight win for the Cardinals as they now sitting in top in National League East.
On the other hand, with this loss, the Diamondbacks suffered fourth straight defeat now and sitting down in third position in the National League West.
Though the Diamondbacks have suffered a big loss, but still they have a fair chance to come back into the season and hoped for a good beginning against their next rivals Atlanta Braves while the last game against the Cardinals is yet to played on Wednesday.
