Arizona Diamondbacks’ relief pitcher J.J. Putz feels good mixing in all of his pitches – MLB News
The Arizona Diamondbacks’ relief pitcher J.J Putz is feeling enormously good regarding mixing his fast and slow pitches during his little stint in the Minor League. Putz, who went 2.17 at ERA along with 45 saves, 61 strikeouts and 0.91 WHIP last season. Once again he is working hard and trying his best to play a key role for his franchise in the coming season.
"It didn't happen very often last year -- coming out in the eighth, getting an out and then going back out -- but it was good to be able to do that," Putz said.
Putz earlier has also stated in the media regarding his game and how he is planning to improve. He said, "I'm not looking at it to just kind of play with, It's something I'm going to use and hopefully use to my advantage and make it part of my plan.”
He added, “I still think it's coming along. Everyone would probably want to be more consistent with every pitch they throw. I'm still working on the consistency. I think the more I throw it, the better feel I'll keep getting.”
Putz is highly experienced Major League professional and knows in which area to improve upon. His past experiences with several top teams including the Seattle Mariners, New York Mets and Chicago White Sox have proved exceptionally well for him.
While that is also the main reason as why the Diamondbacks’ have always relied on Putz and hoped for his better play. Putz on the other hand also never disappointed with his consistent average. After playing almost nine years in the league, Putz still maintains good 3.06 ERA along with 151 saves, 482 strikeouts and 1.14 WHIP.
For the moment, the Spring Training is over and all the MLB franchises are taking one week’s break. The Diamondbacks are also preparing for the season starter and making last minutes’ strategy. They know J. J Putz along with some other experienced players posses the right kind of ability to take the Arizona Diamondbacks to new heights where they can also see qualifying into the post season as well.
