Arizona Diamondbacks’ right fielder Justin Upton available for trade possibility – MLB News
The Arizona Diamondbacks’ right-fielder Justin Upton’s potential trade talks have now gone one step further as general manager Kevin Towers has started listening to offers from different franchises.
Couple of days ago, Upton’s trade rumours came out in the media and somewhat surprised many as the five-year veteran player has been playing quite consistently for the Diamondbacks.
Even in this season, his performance has not been so bad but still the Diamondbacks have plans to trade him in order to get some cash and a potential replacement of Upton.
Though the Diamondbacks' GM Towers is quite hopeful for Upton’s trade but many experts still believe that his intentions are still not clear.
Towers commented on the situation and said, "My job is to try to make this club better, We're not out shopping him by any means. Clubs have asked; I've said, 'Hey, tell me what you would do.' We could either say yes or say no. When he gets hot he can carry a ballclub and do a lot of things a lot of guys can't do, I'm certainly conscious of that. That's why when people ask me about him, it would have to be a deal we really like. If not, we're very happy with him."
Many experts are also posing questions on Towers’ late approach which has many flaws. Towers was brought in last year as GM franchise in a very difficult time but as soon as he established his agenda regarding retaining young players, many in the Diamondbacks management appreciated his new approach for future seasons as this will give the franchise a balanced position in the National League.
However, it looks that a sudden change in his strategy now has threatened some of the young players’ future with the Diamondbacks.
Kevin Towers, who is looking forward to any viable offer for Upton, also fears his team’s future results in their respective National League West Division.
At the moment the Diamondbacks are at third position in the NL West with 42-43 win-loss record and .494 winning percentage. However, this performance is still far away from their potential chances to go into the post-season.
