Arizona Diamondbacks rout San Francisco Giants 6-2 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the San Francisco Giants 6-2 in the third and last game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, September 5 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
"I was trying to slide into third, but he caught the ball in front of the bag and kind of took the slide away," John McDonald said on his team’s great performance.
Diamondbacks’ pitchers and hitters played tremendously and earned a great victory for their team.
They played as one unit and rattled the San Francisco Giants with great focus. Their upfront offence was very determined and did not show any loop-holes during the entire game.
Starter Trevor Cahill started the game for the Diamondbacks. He pitched 6.1 innings and received only two runs and two hits. He retired five Giants’ batters and could not let his opposing batters to dominate which eventually proved one of the winning factors for the Diamondbacks.
“Usually pitchers joke: When you feel bad in the bullpen, you feel good in the game, I felt good early on and I just tried to throw strikes, and the defense was good behind me, so I tried to let them put it in play, Sometimes I get too rushed, It's one of those things where I want to work quick, and you can work too quick where you lose your thoughts out there," Cahill said in detail about his team and his own performance.
Relief pitcher Mike Zagurski pitched 0.2 innings and received one hit only. He also played well and helped the Diamondbacks oust the Giants.
On the other hand, the Giants’ pitchers did not play well and could not show their natural offensive game which at the end proved one of the losing factors.
Madison Bumgarner started the game for the Giants and got hammered with heavy hits. He allowed four runs and seven hits in his 6.1 innings’ spell. He retired five while his ERA rose to 3.15.
Relief pitcher Jean Machi pitched 0.1 innings and allowed two runs and three hits on his blistering 10.80 ERA.
