Arizona Diamondbacks sign Willie Bloomquist for two-year $3.8 million – MLB News
The National League’s Western Club, Arizona Diamondbacks made another move to acquire power for the 2012 season. The club reached a two-year, $3.8 million agreement with an infielder Willie Bloomquist on Thursday, November 10 at Phoenix.
Two weeks earlier, the shortstop Bloomquist declined the $1.1 million option on November 1 and preferred to turn into a free agent, rather than joining the club, of which he became part before the start of the 2010 season. After joining the club in off-season,
Bloomquist was looking keenly to get a place in the team. He got his chance when Stephen Drew broke his ankle on July 20, making a room for the young player.
He did not let the officials think about the loss of Stephen as Bloomquist provided valuable contributions this past season. He scored 26 important RBIs and scored four home-runs in 97 games to secure a consistent .266 batting average.
The club is on the move to improve their clubhouse. Management also showed confidence over right-hander Chris Jakubauskas, but only for the Minor League. It is not like, Chris does not have experience in the big league, but the D-backs currently are in search
of already prepared players to avoid any mishap that happened this past season.
D-backs fell out of the race of World Series after reaching so near in National League Division Series. The club lost 3-2 to Milwaukee Brewers to fly back to home.
The 32-year-old Chris has experience pitching in 32 games for the Baltimore Orioles in 2011. It also includes six starts with 2-2 with a 5.72 ERA. Chris has also been a part of the Seattle Mariners and Pittsburgh Pirates, but his overall ERA of 5.58 with
8-10 record, according to the experts, might be the reason of sending him to the Minor League.
Besides these two, the circles of Major League are reverberating with rumours about Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder. Many questions are being polled to the blogs and the sites asking opinions and statements of the common people about two star sluggers.
Experts however are predicting the biggest contracts of baseball. Who gets what is the biggest question being asked in the television shows and newsletters.
