Arizona Diamondbacks start season with welcome victory over rival San Francisco Giants – MLB News
The Arizona Diamondbacks are off to a fantastic start as they beat San Francisco Giants in their opening encounter of 2012 Major League Baseball season. The Giants, who are considered one of the top rivals of Diamondbacks, received a hefty blow as they lost 5-4 on Friday at Chase Field.
Diamondbacks combination was balanced as the entire team played well and outdid the Giants with sheer good plays with the help of their centre fielder Chris Young along with Ian Kennedy and Ryan Roberts.
Centre fielder Chris Young was phenomenal in that particular game. He batted with strong mind and showed enormous amount of energy leaving the Giants roster in surprise with his sheer hitting. Later, after the game, he told reporters regarding his team’s tremendous plays and total determination. He further stated that the Giants were also good on the field, but his team was better on the day.
Young said, “It was just like the D-Backs of last year. The pressure was on and the guys found a way to come through. Hopefully if we can do that time and time again, we'll continue to build our confidence up. Sometimes you just happen to see aces. Sometimes it's Number 5 pitchers that other people get hits off of but you're not seeing him for anything. That's kind of how the game is. You have to find way to make an adjustment, never give in and hope he makes couple of mistakes and you can take an advantage of them."
On contrary to Young’s comments in the media, this late win is a healthy sign for the Diamondbacks. Experts believe that the late offensive game approach is giving some comfort to the Diamondbacks. After 2011, the Diamondbacks management has introduced a new offensive strategy that certainly is well equipped with promised results linking at every aspect of the game.
Regarding a new report that has just published in the media as the Diamondbacks are looking in right direction in this ongoing season, is also suggesting that the team now feels a strong optimism in it and can compete with every fiercest rival in the coming days.
