Arizona Diamondbacks’ starting pitcher Joe Saunders will be re-examined – MLB Update
The Arizona Diamondbacks’ potential starting pitcher and experienced individual Joe Saunders is expected to undergo a complete checkup by the team doctors after he was hit by line drive in a game against the Cleveland Indians at Goodyear Ballpark Arizona in 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training.
Recently, Saunders also said in the media on his late condition and how better he is feeling now, "It hit me in the fleshy part. If it hit me square on the shin bone, I would have been toast. I felt I could have gone on a little bit ... but they decided to play on the side of being cautious and I can't really fault them for that, I thought I was throwing the ball good.”
He added, “I felt like it was coming out good, so it kind of sucks I got hit there, It sucks I couldn't throw at least three innings today.”
Overall the whole Diamondbacks’ franchise is worried regarding their player’s fitness situation, but it seems that the team manager Kirk Gibson is feeling extra pressure, who has also realised that Saunders will not be coming back soon in the next season. Gibson said, “It's early, its spring training, and you don't want to mess with that.”
Saunders went into this year’s Spring Training with full energy, but doctors fear that this late injury now will create difficulties for him to make a potential early comeback in the regular season.
Saunders is good player and playing in the Major League for almost seven years. He started his career from the Los Angeles Angels’ platform, but eventually made a successful arrival in the Diamondbacks’ franchise in 2010 while since then playing an active role with extraordinary level of commitment.
Last year, he achieved 3.69 ERA along with 12-13 win loss, 108 strikeouts and 1.31 WHIP while his career ERA of 4.16 ERA with 69-52 win loss, 550 strikeouts and 1.37 WHIP also makes his a good and reliable pitcher. The Diamondbacks are now trying hard for Saunders’ return, but only the next examination will determine that how much time he still needs before playing again.
