Arizona Diamondbacks targeting Justin Upton – MLB Update
Arizona Diamondbacks' management recently held a meeting where all the top executives of the franchise were gathered and highlighted some of the issues which their Major League side had to face during the past season.
Diamondbacks' owner Ken Kendrick was also in that particular meeting as he later also said on Upton’s contract development, "I think there's a very high likelihood Justin will be in our starting outfield when we start the new season. Kevin is Kevin. I think there is no one on the roster Kevin wouldn't have a discussion about, if asked.”
Kendrick added with more detail, “I'm a big Justin fan, He was drafted 1-1, and the fan expectation was so extraordinary. I think the fan base has seen flashes of an extraordinary talent. Justin's still young. All of us as young people aren't as consistent with what we do until we become a little more mature. Justin suffers from very high expectations." These executives of the Diamondbacks seriously stood on one serious issue of Upton and his potential re-signing with them.
Speculations have been rising about his future relationship as many other teams are also interested in his free agency and trying to contact him and his agent.
However, the Diamondbacks stand firm on an assurance that Upton will consider their offer first. The five-year Major League veteran Upton is drawing attention from many other teams as well.
Majority of Major League teams know and understand Upton’s calibre and trying to get in touch with him and his agent.
Upton finished this past season with .280 hitting average along with 17 homers, 67 RBIs and .355 OBP.
On the other hand, his career .278 hitting average along with 108 homers, 363 RBIs and .357 OBP also makes him a good role player in the league.
Since his arrival in the league in 2007, Upton has been playing quite consistently and making progress gradually.
His future with any franchise in the Major League is still not known, but seeing the level of interest by the Diamondbacks, many believe that he will once again be playing in Arizona.
