Arizona Diamondbacks thrash San Francisco Giants 6-4 – MLB Recap
Arizona Diamondbacks thrashed the San Francisco Giants 6-4 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, April 23 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
Leveling the series, the Diamondbacks played well throughout the game and never gave any chance to Giants entire roster to dominate. They hit hard all the Giants pitchers and won the game in style.
The first game of the series between these two titans was won by Giants with a narrow margin 5-4 on Monday April 22 on same venue.
Winning this particular game certainly shows that the Diamondbacks are taking very seriously this first half of the 2013 Major League regular season. They know that in order to go into postseason, they have to perform on consistent bases.
"We made some good plays when we had to and they made a couple mistakes and we capitalized on that," Arizona manager Kirk Gibson said. "We played a clean game, made good plays. We've been good at that all year."
In Tuesday’s game, their consistency showed well in place. They played as one unit and rattled the Giants with huge hammering. Diamondbacks entire roster proved too good for the Giants, who are actually last season’s World Series Champions.
"I was getting a lead and (third-base coach Matt Williams) told me to be ready in case he threw something in the dirt, From the side I had a good angle, so as soon as I saw it, I went. That's why I scored," Didi Gregorius said after scoring the go-ahead
run in Arizona's 6-4 win over San Francisco on Tuesday night.
Diamondbacks upfront hitter and pitchers played offensive and gave no chance to the Giants to take advantage at any stage of the game.
Diamondbacks starting pitcher Patrick Corbin played wonderfully for his team. He stood tall against the entire Giants batting lineup.
He pitched over seven innings’ spell and allowed two runs and six hits. He struck out seven Giants batters on his consistent 1.71 ERA.
On the other hand, the Giants starting pitcher Matt Cain disappointed with his poor seven innings’ outing. He received four runs and five hits on 6.59 ERA.
