Arizona Diamondbacks to face Milwaukee Brewers in playoffs – MLB Update
After having suffered a series defeat from Los Angeles Dodgers, another twist in the play-offs occurred and the Arizona Diamondbacks will play against the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Division Series (NLDS).
Diamondbacks had a satisfactory performance during the second half of the regular season but unfortunately, they lost the last series. On the other side, Brewers were outstanding throughout the regular season and they lifted their position after beating
the Pirates in a three-game series at their home ground.
In the last game, Arizona's batters surged late and were able to score only five runs. But the Diamondbacks’ officials were content with the performance of their roster and now look for their next task. Both teams will come head-to-head on Saturday and Sunday
night. There were some amendments in the roster of both teams for their initial two starts.
From the Diamondbacks, Ian Kennedy will pitch the ball in the first game. He had a Win-Loss record of 21-4 with 2.88 ERA. Daniel Hudson will lead in the second game as he had an exemplary Win-Loss record of 16-12 with 3.49 ERA. Conversely, Yovani Gallardo
will be the starting pitcher in the first game. He had a Win-Loss record of 17-10 with 3.52 ERA. Brewers’ ace Shaun Marcum, who had 13-7 Win-Loss record with a 3.54 ERA, will throw the ball in the second game.
Diamondbacks’ manager, Kirk Gibson said, “Our goal is to win three out of the next five. Ultimately, we're going to have to perform and execute.”
Dodgers were outstanding in Wednesday’s game against the Diamondbacks as Ted Lilly pitched in perfect line through-out the game and allowed just three hits in his seven inning pitched. Matt Kemp also shined with the bat as he struck a solo homer to give
the Dodgers a convincing lead. On the other side, Cole Gillespie hit his first home-run to keep the Diamondbacks alive.
Speaking to reporters, Gillespie said, “It was a lot of fun. I wish it could have been a little more dramatic with Milwaukee losing, but any chance to come up with the bases loaded and make something happen, hey, I was just looking for something up.”
If one keeps an eye on the overall performance of Arizona, he comes to know that the Diamondbacks were on the second spot. They ended the second half of the regular season with a 94-68 Win-Loss record.
The Diamondbacks will be looking to start the play-offs on a winning note as they take on the Milwaukee Brewers. Both teams are strong and any adjustments made in the line-up can make an impact in the series. It will be an exciting series, as the level of
intensity during the play-offs exceeds that of the regular season. Only time will tell if the Diamondbacks or the Brewers come out and dominate the series.
