The Bayern Munich winger has insisted his team is now the favourite to reach the final of the UEFA Champions League.
Jupp Heynckes’ team were certainly the better side on Tuesday night as they downed Real Madrid in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League first-leg at the Allianz Arena with a 2-1 scoreline. Franck Ribery and Mario Gomez found
the net for the home side whereas Mesut Ozil scored for the visitors.
Robben, who was formerly a Real Madrid player, claimed that Bayern played some sensational football in the first-leg and outplayed the Spanish opposition. He insisted that the team were up for the task and secured a vital win in
front of the home fans.
The Dutch international admitted that Bayern conceded a poor goal in the second-half which could have been avoided and stated that Los Blancos were given too much space inside the box.
“A huge compliment to the team. We made it very difficult for Madrid tonight, and we created a few chances. It's a shame we let in a goal, but it’s still a positive result. We obviously have to watch ourselves, because Real have
so much quality in attack, as we saw when they scored. But I’m confident we’ll make it,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, midfielder Thomas Muller, who came in as a second-half substitute for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bastian-Schweinsteiger-c7374, warned his side against complacency and claimed that Real Madrid are a very dangerous side at home. He insisted that
the tie is not over yet and Bayern will have to be on their toes to go through to the final of the competition.
“Madrid are dangerous. It was a Champions League semi-final, so there are no bad teams. It's terrific we scored at the end. It means we have every chance,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich still have a chance to win a double this season comprising of the UEFA Champions League and German Cup. The side will play the final at Allianz Arena if they progress and have a mouth-watering clash against Borussia
Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal final next month.
