The Bayern Munich winger has explained why he opted not to take the spot kick during the shootouts as Bayern progressed through to the final.
Bayern Munich winger, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Iker-Casillas-c16815 knows him well and might have stopped his shot. He was talking in the wake of his side’s progression
into the final of the UEFA Champions League where they will meet Chelsea.
Madrid hosted the Munich giants on Wednesday, April 25, at the Santiago Bernabeu with the hosts winning 2-1 on the night. Both the goals were scored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 whereas Robben netted for the visitors. However, Bayern’s
only goal of the night brought the sides level on aggregate and the affair was eventually decided on the penalties.
The Reds emerged victorious by 3-1 margin after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toni-Kroos-c35425 squandered their opportunities for the visitors. Robben mused that Casillas is his former Real
teammate and has a good idea about him which is why he decided not to take the spot kick and instead allowed David Alaba to do the honours.
While talking to reporters after the game, the 28-year-old attacker further added: "Casillas and I know each other as we've played together for two years. And it's more difficult to take a second spot kick. That's why I didn't
take another one."
On the other hand, Robben also lashed out at Franz Beckenbauer who once criticised him on missing his penalty in a crucial Bundesliga encounter against Borussia Dortmund.
"I'd like to hear what mister Beckenbauer has to say now. Whether I've already spoken with him? No, and I don't really feel the need to do so either at the moment. It was not the first time that I stood face-to-face with [Iker]
Casillas at an important moment. My shot was powerful and accurate enough, though," Robben concluded.
Bayern will now host the Stamford Bridge outfit in the final on May 19 but will be without Holger Badstuber, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Branislav-Ivanovic-c7994.
