The Bayern Munich winger has expressed his delight after tearing apart http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Basel-c39079 to go through to the UEFA Champions League last-eight.
Bayern Munich winger, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521, insisted that he is overjoyed after his side progressed through to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. Bayern defeated FC Basel 7-0 in the second-leg of their knock-out tie on Tuesday,
March 13, at the Allianz Arena. Mario Gomez bagged four goals while Robben scored a brace. Thomas Muller also netted his eighth goal of the season for the Reds.
Robben stated that Bayern were brilliant on the night and this performance will definitely help them fulfilling their ambitions in the Bundesliga too. He admitted that the Bavarians are back in form and insisted that the performance
in the last two games proves that Bayern are still a force.
The Munich giants have now scored 14 goals in two games having also scored seven times against Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga last weekend.
Robben revealed that he had to take antibiotics to play the game as he was suffering from cold and wasn’t really up for the match. While talking to reporters after the game, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 international further added:
"Seven goals in the Champions League is incredible. Our last two games have been incredible; we've scored 14 goals. Maybe this will make other teams take notice of us. Maybe it is a bit strange to say, but I wasn't totally fit.
I was on antibiotics, because I have a little bit of a cold."
On the other hand, the Dutch international admitted that it would be a bit tough to face either http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 or Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
"Maybe you can say that 'you don't want to play Barcelona or Real Madrid', but let's see what happens. The early goal was important for us. You could see against Hoffenheim - we're able to destroy an opponent if we're in a good
mood," Robben concluded.
Bayern needed to win this game at least by a two-goal margin in order to progress further after losing the first-leg 1-0 away to Basel. The Reds will now await their quarter-final opponents and return to action against Hertha http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536
on Saturday, March 17.
