Thomas Muller and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521 after the Dutchman was accused of being selfish by the former players.
Arjen Robben had recently been accused of selfishness by club chairman, Franz Beckenbauer. The former Bavarian player had stated that the Dutchman plays a selfish game and has no respect for his teammates. He insisted that the
player should improve and be consistent in his performances in the remaining course of the season.
The Dutch international has had an indifferent 2011/12 campaign so far and has been plagued with injury problems. Robben has not been at his best since coming back from injury and his role has been restricted to the bench in the
last two games against Kaiserslautern and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879.
The former Real Madrid player was replaced by Muller on the right wing, and the attacker seems to have adjusted brilliantly at his make-shift position. The German also scored during the club’s last league game against the Red Devils
on Saturday, February 11, while playing as a winger.
However, Muller believes that Robben is still an important member of the squad, and must not be accused of selfishness. He, instead, applauded his teammate’s dribbling skills, and wants to see him signing an extension for the
Allianz-Arena outfit.
While talking to reporters ahead of Bayern’s game against Freiburg, Muller further added: “We've heard this often before, but these charges of egoism don't apply because one of the aspects of Arjen Robben's game is that he is very
strong in dribbling and you usually dribble alone.”
On the other hand, Bayern manager, Jupp Heynckes, confirmed that Robben is an integral part of his side and played down speculation that the player will leave the club at the end of the campaign. Heynckes admitted that it is always
difficult to leave a player such as Robben out from the playing XI and revealed that the player had some injury concerns ahead of the tie.
“I had to do something and even make unpopular decisions. But it doesn't mean that Arjen is now the 12th man forever,” the manager concluded.
Apart from Muller and Heynckes, club skipper, Philipp Lahm, also voiced his vote in favour of the Dutch international. The captain hopes to see Robben plying his trade at the Allianz-Arena beyond 2013, when his current deal expires.
