Arjun Atwal cannot win a major
The main reason why Arjun Atwal hasn't been able to win any Major till now is because he thinks they are tough.
According to the thirty seven year old, Majors are an extremely tough trial. He said that there are two things the golfers have to face while competing- one is the pressure while the other is the hype that surrounds the golfer.
Atwal is the winner of the Wyndham Championship and is thus the first Indian to have ever won the US PGA Tour event in the month of August. When inquired about how he does this, he blames it on the hard work. The thirty seven year old said that the only reason he succeeded in grabbing a win like this is because of the amount of hard work he did. He said that there are usually no shortcuts for golfers and carrying out hard work that is ‘smart’ is sure to get anyone near the victory threshold.
So a drudgery like this pushes one to new heights which obviously brings in the factor of improvement.
“Success can never be achieved from shortcuts” Atwal said on Thursday eve at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club.
The golfer from Asansol said that what golfers need to learn is how to attain success the smart way. Atwal explained that if a golfer has been working hard for more than 7 months and the results seem bleak, then its time that the golfer adjust his direction.
Atwal will be appearing at the Indian Open next month in New Delhi which is scheduled from the 2nd till the 5th of December. He said that he is aiming to win that event and as far as the majors are concerned they are just plain harsh. The thirty seven year old stressed that the trick to gabbing a Major is in how to treat it. Atwal said that if one treats the Major exactly like a PGA Tournament then there are high odds for victory.
Atwal’s biggest competitors are Jeev Milkha Singh and Jyoti Randhawa from India and he said that he never discusses golf with them. The thirty seven year old said that other than discussing the golf scene of the country there isn't much they discuss together since they hold each other major competitors.
Considering his record, the thirty seven year old has grabbed one PGA Tour and 3 European Tours and 7 Asian Tours till now.
