Arjun Atwal claims Tiger Woods is back in action before the PGA Championship
Arjun Atwal, the rising Indian golfer, who will be part of the field at the PGA Championship this week, insists that Tiger Woods has regained his lost momentum and will be back with impressive form at the Atlanta Athletic Club.
The duo were seen hitting through for their practice rounds on Tuesday, August 9, and like always, a huge crowd had gathered to watch Woods sinking some putts.
“He looked good,” Atwal said. “He's really flushing it and got that sound again. He just needs more repetitions.”
Atwal and Woods will be among the early pairs who will tee-off for the first round of the event the duo played their respective practice holes alongside on Tuesday. Woods was immediately escorted by the security guards and did not indulge in a question answer
session with the reporters.
Atwal accidentally hit a short chip at Woods leg and jokingly asked if it was the bad leg, Woods replied “it is now” with a wide grin. Coach Sean Foley kept a close watch on his pupils putting and swings and continuously gave him suggestions during the nine
holes.
Woods will be playing at the final major of the year coming out from a long break of 11 weeks. He made his first appearance at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational last week and although he was not able to post a strong finish, Woods insisted that he has found
his lost form.
The 35-year-old former number one injured himself at the Masters in the beginning of the season and further deteriorated his injury at the Players Championship later in the year. He has remained off-course since then, strictly following his doctor’s advice.
Woods will be hoping to finish on a better note in the final major of the season to ensure a place in the President’s Cup scheduled later this year.
Woods played for all the nine in his practice round and cordially signed autographs to the heavy crowd in the gallery. He was approached by a small girl for an autograph and Woods signed off with a smile and also waved at his fans in the stand. He is paired
with Davis Love III and Padraig Harrington and will be tee-ing off at 8.30 am.
