Arjun Atwal misses fifth cut of the year at Pebble Beach
Arjun Atwal's worst year continues as he again failed to make the cut at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in California.
This is the fifth tournament so far where Atwal missed the cut. He has a miserable performance in the current season and is apparently losing respect as a golfer.
The 38-year-old Indian professional golfer scored a 13-over par and lost the cut in the third round at Pebble Beach. This is also the worst score of 2012.
He started his 2012 PGA (Professional Golf Association) season by playing at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
He then played at the Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation, Farmers Insurance Open, Waste Management Phoenix Open and finally AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
Unfortunately, Atwal missed the cut in all the tournaments by scoring 141, 211, 144, 147 and 227, respectively.
His regretful performance is the sole reason for his 275th position in the Official World Golf Rankings.
His game's statistics of Pebble Beach are horrible. He stroked 11 bogeys and only three birdies. He covered an average of 270.3 yards driving distance that is not so bad, but not good to make a cut.
Atwal’s past career includes 11 professional wins. He started his professional career at the Asian Tour and won seven tournaments from 1999 to 2008.
In the meantime, he also appeared at the European Tour and Nationwide Tour. He was able to win three events at the European Tour and one at the Nationwide Tour.
Afterwards, he appeared at the PGA and won the first tournament there in 2010. He has been aiming to win since then.
His performance in 2011 was unimpressive. He played a total of 29 events but failed to make the cut in most of them.
His best finish of the last year was his eighth position at the HP Byron Nelson Championship in May.
Similarly, his appearance in the US-based PGA Tournaments has not been so appealing so far. He needs to be more passionate about the game and needs to improve his putting skills.
He has ample time and opportunities to be at par or better in the upcoming PGA tournaments in 2012. He needs to be more competent and impressive on the greens.
