Sri Lanka’s former captain, Arjuna Ranatunga, has appreciated the approach of the Australian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978, for preferring national interest over his personal commitments.
''I'm really impressed with the way Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 has been captaining,'' Ranatunga stated. ''His passion for cricket, rather than thinking of earning money and focusing on other areas - not only the IPL but all these shorter versions - is admirable. There are lots of cricketers today who will sacrifice their country for money.”
Meanwhile, Ranatunga, who won the World Cup for his country in 1996, showed dissatisfaction over the commitment of the Sri Lankan players, claiming that they have always preferred to earn money instead of concentrating on national duties, and advised them to follow in Clarke ‘s footprints.
The former skipper revealed that few Lankan batsmen have always been ignoring lucrative offers to focus on Test cricket, which is not good for the scope of the game, and termed the Aussie side as committed unit.
At the moment, Sri Lanka and Australia are facing each other in a 3-match Test series; whereas Clarke has been leading his side exceptionally well, which compelled Ranatunga to admire his skills.
