my friend was wondering if he coupld go into war/battle in the service if he is his fathers only son but not his monthers only son.

  1. He's not special, he can get sent into combat like anyone else.

    It's an all volunteer military, no one is making him join. Maybe he should reconsider?


  2. That so called "law" is b/s and I don't know where that came from. They can send you anywhere. If he's scared to go to war don't sign up for the military, simple as that.

  3. All I can tell you that my US army counterpart who was 35years old with three children on a high debt back at home after his numerous requests to get back to states was denied without mercy and was shot in action after being transferred to Iraq.

  5. Yes, once he volunteers they can send him where ever they need him.  

  6. There is a chapter that allows a sole surviving son/daughter to be separated if their sibling is killed in combat.  The SM must request separation.

    There is no automatic exemption.  It sounds like you are thinking of the really old draft law on sole surviving sons.  But you need not worry about it.  There will never be another draft.
