I was at a boxing fight recently, amateur fight actually, and there was 2 Armenian fighters fighting eachother, one of them i guess trains at an Armenian gym in Glendale, Ca. the other has no Armenian trainer, manager, or friends that i know of. He's sort of an "outsider" in the Armenian community, anyway as he was walking down the ring there was alot of shouting and screaming, i have no idea what was said but it pissed this guy off, needless to say he won by KO and after the fight every Armenian in attendeance were throwing dimes at him in the ring, my question is, what is the meaning of it? what are the dimes supposed to mean?

  1. I don't know if it's a cultural thing, but might be a way that crowd was telling him he was a bum, and was throwing change at him, which not uncommon.

Lot of Latin fighters will have crowds throw loose change at them after a bout.

Said Jake LeMotta would pay for rent from all the money the crowd threw at him.

  2. This is only a guess here. But if they REALLY thought he was such a disgrace and wanted to hurt him, why would you throw the smallest form of currency at him? Bills don't fly, but a quarter will give you a tiny knot. Choosing the smallest coin, to me, means you don't like that guy, you have ill will on him. You want him to know that, but you do not want to actually hurt the guy. When people start throwing batteries at you, you are in trouble, lol.
