  1. Airborne units don't really affect the deployment rotations.  Rotations are generally 1 year with the possibility of extending an additional 3 months.

  2. I just returned from a 17month deployment in March of this year. Bush passed a bill that no soldier is allowed to serve more than twelve consecutive months in any 24 month time frame overseas. What does this mean? it means that you will spend twelve months overseas and then return home for 12 months. You will more than likely deploy every other year for your entire tour in the Army if you are infantry. I am infantry and have served 9 years of active duty service in the Army as a paratrooper. Four of those years I was deployed and 7 months were in Boot Camp. It really all depends on your MOS. I have known cooks to return from 6 month deployments. Mechanics usually only do 6-8 month deployments. I should know...it's my life.

    Good luck buddy!

  3. Deployments are from 1 year to 15 months. They were supposed to change it back to 1 year, however I know of a few people who were supposed to had a 1 year after they said they shortened the deployment and they just got extension orders.

12-15 months is the correct answer.

It does not matter if your airborne, or not, all units get the same deployment.

There has not been an actual airbore unit for a long time. IE initial OIF operation.

  4. deployment is typically 1 year unless things have changed recently
