My boyfriend graduates from Ft. Benning September 11th. I need to know if there's anything I need to bring with me?

Where do I go? Front entrance or what?

Are girlfriends also allowed to go on family day?

I heard there was a letter you need to bring with you... I don't have anything so will I have to go with his parents?

How much time will we be able to have with him on family day? or

graduation?

Do I need to buy tickets or anything??

ANY KIND OF INFORMATION IS VERY HELPFUL

I'm traveling alone from California so I'm a little freaked out since I've never gone this far alone. PLEASE HELP ME

  1. relax you will be ok. If you could go with his parents that my take some stress off of you. However if you dont want to, just make sure that you have a valid drivers license, current registration on the vehicle your driving, and current insurance card. You will need to go in to the main gate at ft. benning. just before the gate there will be a building with alot of vehicles in front of it. Take all of the above mentioned items inside that building, and tell them that you are there for the graduation. They will issue you a pass for your vehicle and give you directions on where to go.

As far as the amount of time you will get to see him depends on the unit and his drill instructors and his behavior while at basic training. but it is usually for about 4 hours or so.  and that's all there is to it.

  2. It is a long drive if ur driving. We dove down there 9/20/2001, right after 9/11 it was something,

You don't pay for tickets, make sure you have a valid drivers license or ID, my bother got 3days leave but that was in 2001 and he was able to stay at the hotel with us.

And its going to be hella hot at that time but its so beautiful there. and the two answerss above are also right,

    have fun.

  3. hey!!! my boyfriend is graduating on september 11th from fort benning too!!! and im also from california lol... but from what your saying it doesnt sound like they are in the same platoon because i went to my boyfriend's family day last weekend because he just finished basic but is going to do his AIT before he graduates... but anyways last weekend when i went there we just went to the entrance and told them what we were there for and they let us right in.. we just followed the car in front of us and it went strait up the road directly to a little parking area.. trust me just follow the crowd and youll be fine.. and they have little signs on the ground too...  about 2 months ago my boyfriend sent me a paper in the mail regarding the graduation and this is what it said:

In case you were unable to attend the family day weekend,  at 9:00am on Sunday September 11th, we will again be selling Company T-shirts and accepting donations for DVDs with many videos and photos of your Soldier from training.  At 11:00 on September 11th, you are invited to attend a family briefing in the Battalion classroom.  Immediatly following the family breifing, your soldier will participate in the traditional "Turning Blue" ceremony, where he will be awarded the coveted Infantry Blue Shoulder Cord. Pending successful completion of all graduation requirements, your Soldier will be eligible for anevening pass after the Turning Blue Ceremony on September 11th until 8:00pm.  Graduation will occur at 9:00am on September 12th at Kanell Field in an impressive outdoor ceremony.

It aslo says if you have any questions to contact Justin Algor at 706-544-9793.

I hope this helps.. but I'm not sure if they are in the same platoon or not.. cuz if they are not then this is probably not the same for you.... my boyfriend is in the 2nd platoon for the 1-50 inf regt.. the 198th infantry Brigade.  But dont be nervous.. everything will go great.. the morning before i saw him i was soo nervous too... i felt like it was the first day of school or something lol.. i had major butterflies... but i cant tell you how great it was to see him and hug him.. after all  this time.

But you will need to rent a car because it is 100 miles from the Atlanta Airport to the base.  you need to be at least 21 years old to rent one tho... and if you havent already done so you need to buy your plane ticket and make hotel and car reservations becasue they fill up quick...i am going from sept 10th to sept 14 th bcuz i heard they get extra time.. but make sure you double check with ur bf to know for sure...last time i stayed at the marriot in columbus(which is the closest city to the base) and it was absolutly beautiful!! it was kinda expensive tho. and make sure you look out the window when you are landing.. its amazing.. theres trees everywhere!!! and its really easy to get there too.. just take the 85s to the 185s and your there.  If you have any other questions feel free to email me or just ask your boyfriend.. he should have phone time..my boyfriend got his phone back last weekend but either way they always get to call home on Sundays.    good luck.. maybe i'll see you there! :)

    haha i wrote a book!!

  4. Check out this website....

    http://www.marriedtothearmy.com/army_bas...

9 women answered all those questions because their husband/boyfriend graduated from there as well. My husband is graduating from Fort Sill and I read all their surveys from tips and what to wear and what to bring and everything... VERY helpful.

I am in the same boat (going alone)! I found it the only actually informative site out there...

ALSO, they should be sending you or his family a packet in the mail with ALL the information on graduation. If you dont get it then his parents will (whatever address he used when he signed up).

    GOOD LUCK!

  5. Your boyfriend should have been briefed by his drill sergeants about everything anybody who wants to attend the graduation will need to attend.  Usually anybody who has a valid ID or driver's license can gain access to the base but on September 11 they do 100% ID checks and other extra force protection activities.
