Army Basic Training???

So my boyfriend graduates from BCT August 29th at Ft. Knox, and unfortunately I can't go because I play college volleyball and we will be traveling to a tournament that weekend, but i would like to send him something...now I was thinking of buying him a cheap CD player and burning him a cd of his fave songs and ones that remind me of him and what not so he could listen to it on his flight back home...buuut my only questions is, i'm sending this closer to his graduation date, and I was wondering if he would be allowed to recieve such items or would they be considered contraband and confiscated by his D.S. because if that is the case then I won't because I don't want to get him trouble by any means. If you guys have any ideas on whether this would be allowed or not I'd apperciate your insight to the Army and their ways.

Thanks!

  1. a cd player?

You plan on sending him a VHS of yourself?

    Jeez. get him an Ipod.

  2. Oh yea contraband definatly! The best thing you could send him are pictures. I mean you could try to send him some cookies or something like that it all depends on what phase he is in RED, WHITE, or BLUE phase. I mean most of the times the DS will take all that type of stuff but if he is in blue phase he will let him eat it. Possibly it is like a 50/50

  3. I was in the Army. The items may be confiscated (it's their discretion) but everything is given back on the day of graduation. They WILL give it back, promise.

  4. YEAH UNFORTUNATELY IT IS CONSIDERED CONTRABAND SO IF I WERE YOU I WOULD WAIT UNTIL HE GETS TO AIT BEFORE YOU SEND IT TO HIM

  5. I'm sure you could get out of the tournament by telling your coach the situation, he would probably just rather have you there instead of a gift.

  6. People sent me contraband items.  It all just gets stored and given to you at the end.  Drill Sergeants have a lot of control over your boyfriend right now but they can't destroy US mail.

  7. don't bother to send it to him he won't get it in time, It can take upto 2 and  a half weeks to get it and the won't let him have it any trust me I know I am an army wife myself.
