Question:

Army Juvenile Record Question

I was charged with a misdemeanor when I was 17. It was obstruction of Justice... basically I watched an arrest and was on the phone explaining how they were beating up the guy. Then I was detained for standing there... about 50 feet away. I wasn't arrested. I pled guilty so the the charge wouldn't be on my record.

Do I have to tell them? Will this affect my application?

  1. YES TELL THEM

IF YOU DONT AND THEY FIND OUT YOU CAN GO TO PRISON FOR SUPPLYING FALSE INFORMATION

    YOU SHOULD BE OK THOUGH

  2. Tell them or they'll find out and bar you. If you get a waiver, you can join despite the charge on the record. Its easy to get these days as the army is pretty desperate for warm bodies.

  3. you wont go to jail if you don't tell them however, they'll probably find out anyways.  Better to be honest then to compromise your integrity and have the recruiter lose faith in his applicant.

It probably wont mess with the enlistment either.  He'll just have to do more police checks.

Follow up to AB, right on!  I say let the recruiter decide what do with the information :)

  4. You plead guilty so it is on your record.  It never goes away.

    Trust me.

Tell your recruiter and explain it to him. If that is your only misdemeanor as a juvenile you have nothing to worry about.
