I was thinking of becoming a combat medic and later go into the special forces. Will they allow me to do that or will they deny me?

  1. yes , they will allow it, however you should be aware that, your medical skills will have to be absolutely stellar. just like others in the SF you will have to be a cut above, but Medical specialties for the SF is even more so. probably the hardest of the different job types

  2. Yes, They take almost all if not all MOS's into SFAS.  Infact being a medic will give you an edge, sense all entrys into sf have to learn combat medic basic knowledge.

  3. The preferred way is to do the SF medic training and qualification first.  Your Army recruiter will advise you as to the best(only) way to go. Before you can consider being a SF medic you have to have first completed ABN training.  No ABN, no SF.

  4. They constantly look for medics with high scores out of AIT and combat experience, and especially high PT scores.  If you can hang they will be happy to take you, and train you to deal with diseases that most doctors will never see.

From everyone that I have talked to in the SF Community, it is a highly rewarding career and the medics are treated with the utmost respect because they are just as tough as the operators and are in it to save lives.
