A friend's son reported for basic training in the Army National Guard and was told he was being sent home and not given a reason. Is that possible?. He has been attending drills for 7 months waiting on basic training. I think he is not telling the entire story. Thoughts?

  1. was he a little punk ? that can get u sent home

if he talked back to his instructors they yes

if he didnt meat a qualification then he would be sent home

but they should hav told him

he didnt do anything criminal or they would have him in jail

  2. There's no difference between Regular Army basic training and National Guard basic training.  They train new Soldiers all the same.

Having worked at Ft Jackson, a basic training post, as a Department of the Army civilian, I can guarantee you that he knows exactly why he's being sent home.  At every step of the way, he is counseled as to what is happening and why, and is required to sign the document stating as such.

There is absolutely more to this story.

Furthermore, the Army isn't letting many people out of basic training these days.  He must have really messed up to be getting kicked out.

The only possibility that I can find, and I'm REALLY stretching on this one, is if his NG unit ran out of funds.  For NG and Reserve Soldiers, their units pay for training.  But I doubt they would have even sent him if they were getting short.  And since he's essentially useless to them until he's MOS qualified, any pending deployment wouldn't be the cause either.

So, he's lying.  I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I'm just coming up short.

  3. no the army will not just send you home for no reason. there is something this boy is not telling you. the military will inform the soldier why he or she is being sent home. usually when in basic training or AIT (advanced individual training) there are a few chapters he could be getting. the most popular is failure to adapt chapter meaning he is disobedient, he has a lack of self-control, or he may have psychological problems. there are more reasons why they would be sending him home such as chapter 15 meaning he is a homosexual or medical discharge for hurting himself or being physically incapable to perform his duties.

  4. You will not be sent home without a reason.  The Army loves paperwork so he isn't telling the whole story.

  5. He is keeping something from you!

The National Guard and or Army had a reason. Maybe he is embarrassed about it. It may be for something bad like drugs or something smaller like not being physically fit. What ever he is not telling the whole story.

There are many other reasons, but what ever it is he is not telling you. He knows too. He had to sign paper work...Either that or he went AWOL.

Best you can do is be supportive. You don't have to agree to what ever he did, but family always comes first. Let him know that he can tell you what ever.

But if he is just a punk and a liar, then let him go on his own way. Don't be fooled by his lies.

  6. He was told why!!! If you don;t meet requirements the first time around, you will get recycled and then you get kicked out. They may have found drugs on him. That was one of the first things they try to get everyone at reception to give up behind a curtain voluntarily is drugs and prescription meds. If you don;t do it then and you get your locker inspected and get caught with them then during basic trainign your but is grass.
