Question:

Army National Guard to Air National Guard?

I recently was in the process of enlisting in the Air National Guard, I had to get a waiver for my vision (I didn't do good on the Air Force specific depth perception part), and it got denied. So my recruiter said that I might be able to join the Army National Guard and switch over.

My question is basically what is the probability of this happening, and what is the process? (including how long I would have to be in the army before I switch)

PS

I'm 18, completed 1 year of college (3.4 gpa) and did good on the ASVAB

I just found out yesterday about the waiver being denied, and It's too late for me to return to my college now.

So I was kinda depressed because I had been banking on this for the last few months and didn't really have my mind anywhere else but joining the Air Force.

Any help would be appreciated.

  1. join active duty army

but if the air force rejected you the army will to most likely depending on how bad your vision is

your you can get laser surgery

  2. The Army NG also pays tuition and has ground communications. I'm in a commo unit as network switch operator and we have all sorts of commo positions. While the Air Force Guard is definitely more posh, you can get the same MOS/AFSC in the Army Guard. And you won't be stuck in the Army as far as active is concerned- you night be activated to serve in Iraq or where ever, but the Air Force Guard gets activated just as much.
