  1. ....yes, that is the requirement for RIP, physically

....the mental extrapolation is excruciating, and it is meant to be

....IMHO, Ranger School is by a large the 'toughest' and most challenging of the entire series of training schools required in becoming the Green Beret....Maj. Ret.,3rd Army Infantry, 1970-1977

...work your *** ff, remain calm, and always think carefully and clearly

...by the way, if you are really a fast runner and built solidly, you might rather consider becoming an NFL running back instead....'the pay is a whole lot better'

  2. You need to be in both top notch physical and mental condition to make it through ranger school.  Also you have to be able to work as a member of a team as both a leader and a follower.

  3. For those posting about Ranger School... RIP has nothing to do with Ranger School.

Once again... Ranger School is a TRADOC leadership course. It teaches combat leadership values.

RIP is the Ranger Indoctrination Program. It is a selection process that determines if you're eligible to serve in the 75th Ranger Regiment, which is a Special Operations unit that operates under USSOC.

    They're two totally different animals.

And... just because you're physically fit doesn't mean you will succeed. I've seen complete studs wash out real quick... and I've seen non-PT studs do real well. It all depends on the caliber of the man.

And the PT test requirements are exactly that... PT tests. It's way more physical than just doing a PT test. That's just the requirements. Just wait 'til you start "hitting the woodline" for five days straight, which came to about 80 miles for my class... You'll know what I mean if you make it that far...

  4. you are more than qualified

  5. Perhaps, but nearly everyone who attends RIP and Ranger School is in peak physical condition already, yet many do not make it. This is because things like Ranger School and Special Forces are all about heart and what is inside you more so than your muscle mass. Notice that many special forces guys tend to be smaller and not built like Arnold Schwarzenegger? This is because you need physical and mental endurance over the ability to bench press 500 lbs one tme.

  6. Physically ?? probably you would have no problems physically.....but Ranger School is not all about being physically fit..... that will get you through the first week at Fort Benning.....BUT you have eight more weeks ..... You will need a brain and a heart.... Your leadership and management skills will be tested.....your ability to solve problems and organize activities, deligate authority and take responsibility will be tested..... If all it took was being physically fit......orangatangs would have Ranger tabs
