Question:

Army boot camp training?

I would like to know what's the daily routine in the army boot camp when it comes to exercise.

How many push ups?

How many sit ups?

The army PT test, how many miles do I have to run in all three of them?

Please, I'm looking for an answer that gives guidelines.

Mileage, Times, and Numbers for the PT tests and Daily routine.

I'm possibly starting boot camp soon, and I'm a smoker, so I need to start training and to quit smoking now.

Also if you know at what time you wake up to start training and at what time the training of the day is over.

Please, I'm looking for clear and solid answer..thanks a lot!!!

this will give you the links to some documents that will help you out. and give you all the standards..... usually they get up i think around 5am. good luck

  2. I've never been through it, but I know that you can not get an exact amount.  They can make you do pushups for anything and they will.  If you are going to start training I would just do as many push ups and sit ups as possible, as well as running.  I know the PT tests are timed so make sure you can do your sit ups fast.

Also know that you will be expected to do a final Ruck/Road March and I think thats anywhere from 5-7 miles.

I would also practice eating fast as they dont give ya much time for that . lol

    Good luck to you!

  3. Its pretty tough! Those guys are made to look weak by other country's but there really not!

  4. I'M IN THE SAME SITUATION WHAT I DID WAS JOIN A GYM. I SIGNED UP WITH BALLYS AND TOLD THEM I WANTED TO JOIN THE MILITARY AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD TERMINATE MY CONTRACT SO I DON'T HAVE TO KEEP PAYING FOR THE FULL YEAR. SO THERE ARE NO STRINGS ATTACHED. I'M A SMOKER TOO AND THE BEST WAY TO TRAIN IS ON A TREADMIL. A LOT OF RUNNING AND BRETHING EXERCIZES HELPS A LOT. IF NOT YOU CAN ALWAYS START WITH PUSH UPS AND SIT UPS AT HOME :)

  5. In order to pass the APFT you must do 42 push-ups in 2 minutes.... 53 sit-ups in two minutes.... and run 2 miles in 15:54 or less.  That is to graduate Basic training.  Now... as far as what you are going to do on a daily basis depends on you, your platoon and your drill sergeant.  I imagine on a day to day basis I make my privates do 100-200 push-ups,,, probably around 100 sit-ups and they run whenever I tell them to run.  That is on a daily basis.  Our 1st call is at 0500hrs.  Now if you think that is the time you are getting up, you are mistaken.  You will get up anywhere from 1  to 1 1/2 hours earlier to ****, shave, clean the bay, make bunks etc., cause you don't have the time before PT and I expect everything to be done by the time I get in.  Like an earlier post, training is complete when the drill sergeant says it is complete.  As you go further in the cycle the hours are shorter, normally training ends at 1700hrs.  Now if you are doing a live fire or night training, it could go until 0200-0300 hrs.  It just depends.  Stop smoking now, it will make life easier, but if you don't, you will stop in basic, you don't have a choice, I see a lot of privates go cold turkey.  Sucks for them but they get over it.  Now from a drills sergeant perspective, if you start smoking after basic and AIT, you are stupid..... You don't smoke for months and then you want to start again.... Irresponsible.......

  6. Wow...ok well first off when i was in basic we could not smoke...so yeah quit or be very sneeky about it!!!  Everything starts off with what type of training you are going to....Infantry training in Benning or heading to other training in Columbus SC, Lennarwood something like that and a few others.  Anywho....0530 when the day kicks off.  You have no military bearing they will call it....but you learn quick.  Training ends when the Drill Sgt says so....could be 1700 could be 0300 you don't know but mine ended around 19 or 2100.  So yeah.. you not in shape then it would be nice to get into it...because the more out of shape you are the harder it will be to well enjoy it!  believe me you will say that after it is all over.  The APFT.....army physical fitness test!  Remember that will consist of PU/SU/ 2 Mile run....age groop will determine what you need to do....go to the website. other then that have your recruiter tell you what is correct push up (PU) and what is a correct sit up (SU).  other then that go infantry/airborne school after and then join the 101st, 2 BDE, 1 Battalion recon section....then hit sniper school and ranger school....they ant hard they just suck!  Well good luck private!

  7. You're going to do some pushing in basic. Can't really give a solid number. That and sit ups, T bones, flutter kicks, captains chair, dying cockroaches, cannon cockers, the whole nine. On the PT Test, you only run two miles, not three. I think you have to do like 32 pushups, 42 situps and run two miles in 16:54. But you'll be in plenty good shape to pass it. The duty day runs from 0430 and ends around 5:00 pm. Have fun and good luck!
